We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office – know that YOU are special to us and your comfort is a high priority.
Your initial appointment will consist of photos taken just with a camera, of the inside and outside of your mouth, by your orthodontic assistant in a private exam room. Once your photos have been uploaded to our system, Dr. Travis A. Sorensen will perform a very gentle and thorough examination of your teeth. Following, Dr. Sorensen will sit down with you and anyone you wish to have with you and explain his findings and discuss potential treatment options and length of treatment.
After, one of our front office staff will assist you with your questions about costs, payment options, insurance, flex-spending account use and the ease of scheduling appointments. This important 30-45-minute visit with Dr. Sorensen and one of our front office staff, will give YOU insight into your orthodontic program.
We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we may also reserve time following the exam (15-30 min) for diagnostic records. The records include impressions for an appliance and x-rays if necessary for a more extensive treatment plan.
What to Expect
During the initial examination for each patient, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment. We encourage you to ask questions as well.
- Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
- Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
- What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
We want to make sure that our patients leave the office with a clear understanding of their specific needs, what the treatment will consist of and how long it will take. Also, we will answer any additional questions. And we are always happy to call and visit if you have further questions or concerns.
What We Need From You:
Please assist us by providing the following information when you set up your first visit:
- Any panoramic X-ray taken within the past six months.
- If you have orthodontic insurance, please provide this information when you call for your first exam, it will allow us to give you a more accurate estimate of your costs.
While we can answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, more records are taken when getting ready to start. We feel it is important for analysis of diagnostic records of each patient’s specific needs throughout treatment, because in-depth planning and execution leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction… because there is a difference!
